Written Consent to Disclose Tax Return Information

So… you are with your banker, mortgage dude, or lawyer and you need a copy of last year’s tax return.  Or worse yet, the last three years.  If you are one of my disorganized clients who doesn’t want to be bothered with trying to find your copies, you might think “I’ll have my highfalutin smarty-pants CPA shoot a copy right over.”   Maybe.

Starting January 1, 2009, the IRS now requires me to get WRITTEN CONSENT to disclose tax return information to a third party.  Thank you Internal Revenue Code section 7219.

How does this affect you?  As one of my valued clients, I’m probably more than happy to help.  Catch me on a good day and I may not even charge you to fax or email some of your tax documents to some random guy that I do not know.  (Or maybe I know them, doesn’t matter.)  However, I will need written consent.

I’ll make it easy.   CLICK HERE FOR A CONSENT FORM.  Print it, fill it out, sign it and get it to me.  Put your third party recipient’s email address or fax number on the form if that is the delivery method.

Scan and email the completed form to christopher@chrisozcpa.com OR fax it to 248-920-5262.

Call if you have any questions and good luck with that loan or lawsuit.
